I like reading old detective novels, and I guess I find The Case of the
Photo Fair Leica Thief interesting for the same reasons. But something
occurred to me, which is that of course we don't know that the seller
has knowingly committed a crime. He or she may be a small camera shop
owner who bought these items from a thief who had a very good story. Or
possibly the person who reported the items as stolen is nuts -- I know
that while almost everyone I speak to at the San Mateo show is pleasant
and rational, there are in fact a few people who seem to have a screw
loose.

So I hope we do find out what happened, in case we happen to run into
the seller again.

P.S. I think one of the best twists in The Case of the Photo Fair Leica
Thief is how the police receive one of the crucial reports from an alert
LUG member who faxes them the advertisement from Tokyo!
