I do know that in the days when I was replacing them in Leica rangefinders, that they came in both gold and silver and from 40/60 to 60/40 trans/reflect ratios. The last time ( a few years ago) that I bought any, they came in gold only, but in any case they are going to cut down the light going to your eye or lens.
