This kind of categorical statement is really unnecessary and substanti-
ally unhelpful.  Not everyone carries their Leicas with a cocked
shutter in a bag.  A large number of people will only cock the shutter
just prior to taking a photograph, or perhaps in anticipation of taking
one, when the camera is well out of the bag.

In addition, soft releases are appreciated by many people for the
enhanced feel they give to the camera.  Many report being able to
control the shutter release better, improved stability, or just
greater sensuous pleasure from silky smooth operation (which is more
than "just" when I think about it... ;)
