You're already participating, Phil!

There is a tendancy for newcomers to be intimidated by invading what might
seem like a private, exclusive society (Sacred Order Of The Red Orb?)
populated by artists, intellectuals, crusty old pros and upper-crust
(nouveau and otherwise) twits all to eager too cast a withering glance your
way at the very mention of the N-word!

The truth of the matter is that, while there was a great discussion of
photograph-as-artform, darkroom technique and very fine lens evaluation
reports, a lot of energy also went into a heated debate over whether one
should remove the plastic sheet that Leica sticks onto the bottom of the M6.
This has four main effects:

(1) It's reminder that hey, the LUG is free, so be thankful for the
fascinating message tossed in here and there as you wade through a lot of
other "stuff"
(2) It's living proof that you're as qualified as anyone else
(3) It impresses friends when you have 130+ emails awaiting you
(4) It means that there's no better place to get a good deal of advice on
some very obscure Leica matters not covered in any guidebook ("let's see, is
that listed in the index as 'sheet, adhesive plastic' or...?")

Enjoy
Jeff
