It is to much expensiv to have 3 lenses of the same length in program. There is NO significant improvement between the 3.4 to the 2,8 lens. The reason that leica is coming out with the 2,8 lens is only to find in marketing (coasts). 2 lenses are "cheaper" as to have 3 in window. The "old" 2,8 Elmarit is a very, very good lens. You do not see on aperture f4,0 it's apo or not. - --- Peter Ramlow Bad Kreuznach (The home of Schneider-Kreuznach) Germany Tom and other 180 f2.8 apo enthusiasts: I appreciate the improvement of the apo lens over the f2.8 Elmarit. However, has any one of the users compared this lens with the 180 mm f3.4 apo-telyt? Apart from the the half f-stop gain and the closer focusing is there any improvement in sharpness and color rendition with the new apo lens?
