Jim, honest injun, I didn't touch the front of the lens! :) Quite frankly I couldn't believe the difference one to one after we tested the two 35's. The difference wide open was so obvious I kept going back and checking notes to make sure we were looking at the right frames. But this one (test) we did very carefully as I was looking to see if the money to buy one would be well spent. After the results, and I'm not a regular testing kinda guy, but like to think I'm from Missouri, "show me!" I'm sold! It truly was quite amazing. :) Hey, I'm sorry I'm getting some of you to look at your bank accounts, but that's life in the new wave world of Leica optics! :) ted
