According to Leica Fotographie 5/97

It's possible to use the soft rubber cap (14043)
made for the 12526 lens hood of the 35/2 Asph.
on the 12524 lens hood of the former 35/2.
But it will be a little bit loose on it.
It's also possible to use the new 12526 on it.
