I - for myself - explained it with the intro of the M6-0.85. Both events happened parallel (2 weeks difference). Further, I wouldn't count on a new or different M body for the next 10, 12 years; maybe some improvement in quality control, but no new M: The M6-0.85 area, which is accompanied by the 75 mm transfer to Germany and the intro of the APO 2/90, has just begun. Depending on the 75 and 90 mm selling cyphers, both M bodies will either run parallel for a limited period, like the M2 and M3, or Solms might stop the M6 to push the 75 and 90 selling. Additionally, I guess, Solms next efforts will concentrate on the R series and it's lenses, or even on a P&S CD toy to participate from the big cake.
