You can only relate magnification to (1) another lens, (2) a final product image size or (3) to the film. 1) Another Lens - A 43mm lens has 1.5X magnification compared to a 35mm in relation to the area of coverage. A 43mm lens has .7X magnification compared to a 50mm lens. 2) Final Image Size - You could calculate the magnification, as compared to the original scene, of a 43mm lens as compared to a 4 X 6 print viewed at 18 inches, a 11 X 14 print viewed 10 feet, or a slide projected with a 150mm lens at 20 feet and of course many other possibilities. 3) Film - You could calculate the magnification of the image as it appears on the film to the actual measurement of the subject. Macro photography. Of course this is just a variation of number 2. Again, the above is just my opinion.
