I hadn't noticed this from looking at the camera, but now I'm looking for it I can see that the shutter blades are indeed separate and in a slightly different plane from the aperture iris. This is confirmed by the cross section of the lens in the sales brochure where emphasis is made on the importance of the 7 bladed iris giving a near round opening, hence good out-of-focus effects. I'm not personally convinced about subtle differences in bokeh for whatever reason, maybe this will convert me! Mike PS "Irii"is a fine word (good crossword fodder) but I expect more people understand "irises" or "whatevers"! Mike, Probably not too far off topic as the lens is available in LTM. I've only recently noticed (since the lens was returned from the magazine that tested it) that the lens seems to have two irises (irii?). Tom A. and anyone else who has one, is this so? Or am I seeing things? Mike, does your camera/lens seem to possess two... whatevers? Jem
