The documents are in Adobe Acrobat format, and can be printed out as needed. The documents come from the Leica archives and are reproduced by permission. (The Adobe Acrobat Reader is available at no charge on the 'Net.) Unlike the recent "Brand-X" CD-ROM, there is no "sound and fury" audio-visual show in this production. It is information, pure and simple, for those interested in the history and development of the Leitz camera line. Future volumes will include disks on the later Leitz and Leica camera line (with a mixture of SL/R cameras and M), Zeiss and Zeiss Ikon, and, possibly, Rollei. (And, if we can find a source for documents, we would love to include volumes on Voigtlander, Exakta, and a few lesser-known breeds, as well.) This is an invaluable tool for those interested in Leica history. Pricelists, instruction books, and marketing information are included. The swathe of history included is immense; the technical information is outstanding. (My own endorsement is that an advance copy delayed the writing of my latest book by three months, as I am poring over this information with delight!) Those in Europe and Africa should contact Erwin directly at <imxputs@knoware.nl>; those in Asia or the Americas should contact me. The price is $60 plus shipping. Deliveries will commence on 1st May 1998, so prompitude is in order. After all, as they used to say on American radio ads, "you want to be the first on your block to own this exciting product!"
