Hello...

I just pulled out an old Nikon F3 brochure that I pickup up when I bought
mine.  It says, "When it passes the performance test, simulating more than
150,000 shutter firings, you know it will perform for years."

That doesn't address the question perfectly, but it's straight from Nikon's
mouth.
