matrix metering, and #D matrix metering are? -Jay- >>

Jay, with a matrix meter the frame area is divided in several segments. The
metering system reads the exposure for each of these segments. These readings
are compared to a databased stored in a computer chip. The computer
determines the exposure based upon this information.

For example, (oversimplified) if the center segment is dark and the several
segments above are very light, (person standing in front of a bright sky), the
computer will determine that it needs to increase exposure so that the central
object is not underexposed.
