I have #2289699 - silver chrome and bought it new from Don Chatterton  Oct
22, 1997,  He was getting them in and selling them pretty regularaly - so I
imagine it was manufactured in the middle of 1997.

How close it your camera to mine???  BTW I have had no trouble with it at all.
