Negative film contains more "information" than slide film and handles contrast better for enlargements. Good enlargments from a slide generally require the use of an internegative (4" x 5") is best. This is to control contrast. There are some papers that allow making an enlargment directly from the slide, but the quality is not very good because of the contrast issue. The Cibachome process also makes prints directly from slides but the colors are very saturated and the prints are expensive. The best way to make prints is to use print film. Tom Shea
