I have a couple of Pradovit Color 250 autofocus projectors, and expereinced a similar problem with one of them. There are a couple of possibilities: 1) the autofocus sensor which picks up the reflection of a beam f light projected onto the front surface of the slide has deeteriorated an is no longer working; 2) the sensor is misaligned; 3) one of the electrical connections to the sensor is broken or has come loose. Replacing or realigning the autofocus sensor can be expensive and a bit tricky. To complicate matters, Leitz upgraded the autofocus sensor assembly mid-way through the production cycle of the 250. A replacement/upgrade kit is still available from Leica Camera in New Jersey (they may need to order it from Germany) for about $260. Then, to properly install and align the damned thing, you need special glass slide plates to calibrate the autofocus. I have the original factory service manual describing the procedure. This is the long way of saying that I have ignored the malfunctioning autofocus. If I remember correctly, there is a switch on the back of the projector that deactivates the autofocus. I'll check on that when I get home today. I do have a couple of spare remotes for that projector, and again, I'll double check to make sure that they have the focusing buttons. they are like new, in the box, as they came packaged with the projector, and have a light pointer attachment. I would want about $20, may be plus shipping depending upon where yuo are. Let me know. Mike Swiek Bethesda, MD USA e-mail: MSwiek@aol.com
