Fellow LUGer's, past, present and future photojournalists;

This is a very disturbing, unsettling, and dismaying post.

I suppose this has been coming for some time, since the death of LIFE, LOOK;
and the consolidation of many of the great newspapers. What a crime against
the public that wants to know and cares.

I spent 15 years in the 60's & 70's as a photojournalist, mostly with
community oriented dailies. Pay was awful, but the rewards of having an
Editor accept an indepth photostory or feature, and the thankful and
stimulating response from readers made it worthwhile.

Although I am not up to date with the current state of community
photojournalism, I have a feeling that there is still room for professional
advancement, and public acceptance with the smaller papers with sympathetic
management and community committment.

Some of you who are working today can better respond to this than I. I look
forward the this thread continuing.

Best Regards, Mike Stoesz, VP, Rainbow Photography, Laramie, Wy.
