Subject: [Leica] Flaky black paint on 30's Leitz lenses

I have limited experience of the 1930's Leitz lenses- a 90/4 Elmar and a
135 Hektor. Both are user lenses in poor cosmetic condition but work for
taking pictures, and both have black paint that comes off very easily. I
can get this paint off almost effortlessly by gentle scraping with a
fingernail, especially with the Hektor, which is a brass lens now, rather
than a black one! What I'd like to know is, how usual is this in black
lenses of this vintage?
