Actually, we journalists in the U.S. consider using unidentified sources as
a last resort, and try not to go "off the record" unless we can find a
verification for that story elsewhere that is independent of the first
source.=20

Do you have a second source?

I've had dealers tell me all sorts of things about Leica, and other makers'
cameras. But I hear the opposite elsewhere. One dealer does not a
significant statistical number produce.=20

So we all have to make our own determination. Nobody denies the R8 has some
problems, but it's the first camera designed totally by Leica since the
SL2. At the numbers they are working, I'm not surprised they have problems.
Nikon probably tested more F5s than the whole first run of the R8. And they
still had problems when the F5 came out.

If Leica is leaving dirty lenses, well, they need to be told, so they can
tighten up. The have stated publically they know their future is tied to
producing the best optics in the world. So it's just a matter of time that
they begin to feel the pressure, if there really is a problem.
