Subject: [Leica] Leica 90 Elmar

Thanks to all the LUGers who so promptly responded to my request for a 90mm
f/4 COLL. SM Elmar. I guess none of you are willing to part with yours so I
will need to find a standard version to go with the IIIa which is being
serviced.

I would prefer a pre-war version, user, cheap since the camera is in user
condition.

I used it a PMA last month and received quite a few comments about using a
REAL camera in this age of digital and autofocus.
Roger Hicks had his photo taken with it and we had a brief and pleasant
conversation about using the older cameras. The folks at the Leica booth
were rather snooty and basking in the glory of their new Tri-Elmar and S1 and
M-6?

The Rollei folks however were quite friendly and interested in more than just
their latest wizbang 6008i. (I also use ancient Rolleis but did not have
one with me at the time).

I hope the have the IIIa fixed and an outfit completed and ready to use by
late spring. Should be handy to take fishing in the mountains.

Best Wishes Mike, Laramie, Wyoming
