I bought it new, and it arrived with a small, but distinct, flaw on one of the interior metal surfaces. My initial impulse was to hang on to it. I shot a roll, noticed no visible impact on the optical quality of the lens or image, but after a week the damn thing drove me nuts, seemed as though the imperfection *grew* everytime I looked at the lens. I finally swallowed hard and returned it to Contax, who replaced it w/o serious comment. I'm *very* glad that I traded several weeks' potential use for considerable peace of mind. Your mileage may vary.
