[Leica] Query, winder & PMA notes

I have one of these Summiluxes too, but I hope someone on the LUG can help
with an odd lens cap query. First of all, I got this lens used, attached to
a SS M3. (Yes, it is a 35 Summilux. I didn't question the combination,
since the price was terrific.) Curiously, it's a Canadian lens with a
clip-on Wetzlar hood of the type Marc described. Quite a bad design, if in
fact these two do belong together, since the hood turns freely and makes it
tough to get a quick finger on the aperture ring.

But here's the LUG question: Years ago, I came on an _R_ lens cap that fit
perfectly over the lens hood. The cap had about 1/2" lip, so it was a
winning combination. Foolishly, I never wrote down the part number for the
cap, and lost it at some point (it was probably seeking out an R user so it
would feel more at home). Does anyone out there have this old 35 M-Summilux
w/hood, and some R caps to try on to see if you can figure out what I had?
Your expertise would be much appreciated. Until I can trade up to the ASPH,
I live with this lens, and it's sad to always have its f***** exposed in my
bag. 

On a more cheerful note, I received my heirloom version Abrahamsson winder
this week. I've been running TX through it -- so far all pictures of the
little guy who will one day inherit it -- and the winder is a gem! Learning
of it and getting one have forever proven the value of the LUG to me. Thank
you again, Tom!

Erwin described the Tri-Elmar exactly as I saw it at PMA. Actually, it felt
lighter than I expected, and seemed that it would be rather easy to use.
The M6 HM was very very nice, but since I have a couple of M3s, I think my
next few Leica investments will be in glass. I regret that I didn't write
down its serial no., but I did get the Tri-Elmar's. (The number is in my
office, but I'll send it to Marc for the collection.) And while there may
have been some secret glimpses of new things in some back room, there sure
wasn't any M6E in public view at PMA; I think it's a false alarm.

Finally (sorry if this has become too long) I subscribed to Leica
Fotographie when I saw their table at PMA. It was a good deal, I think: a
year's sub, plus the first 2 issues of 98, the M6 special issue, and a copy
of their first issue Aug/Sept '49 isssue all for $49.

I hope someone may have a clue about that lens cap!
