interesting point: as the focus becomes larger (to 50mm) the front lens
recesses more to use the builtin hood more effectively.

Sounds like a most wonderful device!  At 340 grams, though, it will be one
heavy sucker -- it weighs almost as much as a 2/90 Summicron (410 grams).
