Because they are paid poorly? :-) It's truer than you might think. In the U.S. journalism graduates are the lowest paid college graduates in the country. They are still mostly with Nikon. Though many are deserting to Canon they're a long way from taking over. There are many who are still shooting with F3s and F4s and have no intention of switching or upgrading. They are going to run their cameras into the ground because they are just fine, and think they're more reliable. And they often don't use AF except for sports. Most of their shooting is with the AF turned off. And several of my friends have for the first time ever become interested in Leica because of the R8 and it's bright viewfinder.
