Last longer? >Tony Chang >4B Co-Op Chemical Enginnering >University of Waterloo >Ontario, Canada Yes, K-14 films might/should last longer, at least in archival (dark) storage. With your interest in chemistry, you might be interested in the reason. Most color films and papers create the dyes with built in "couplers". These leave residual chemicals which over time can "print out" or stain. All E-6 and C-41 films will eventually darken and color shift from this. Kodachrome inserts dyes in the processing, so does not suffer from this. Don't panic! contemporary films are much longer lasting than older color films, in spite of this problem.
