Lucien is your camera close the above serial # ? Mark, Mine is # 164263X. All three are part of batch M4-P 1642551-1643750 of 1984. 1546351-1545300 M4-P 80-81 1546351-1552350 M4-P 81 1552351-1552884 M4-P 81 1562351-1564350 M4-P 82 1586351-1590350 M4-P 82 1604551-1606550 M4-P 82-83 1618551-1620550 M4-P Chrome 83 =3D 2 000 1620551-1622550 M4-P 83-84 1636551-1637550 M4-P Chrome 83 =3D 1 000 1642551-1643750 M4-P 84 ** 1649251-1651250 M4-P 84-85 1691951-1692950 M4-P 86 Total Chrome =3D 3 000 - 2500 1913-1983 =3D 500.Thats how Ghester Sartor= ius find that number in his "Identifying Leica Cameras" ISBN 0-8174-4026-7 . Obviously this is not correct because whe know at least 5 chrome M4-P outside of the two chrome batch; 164263X Lucien M6 window 1643193 Lager M4-2 window 1643474 Lager M6 window 164369X Mark M6 window 1643697 Spencer M6 window Is somebody of the LUG the owner of a BLACK M4-P = in the 1642551-1643750 batch ?? Maybe all the batch is Chrome.=3D 2500 instead of 500. Still rare but much less. In the Leica International Price Guide (7th edition) M4-P Black =3D 1000 $ R3 +/- 22 000 Ex. M4-P Chrome =3D 3000 $ R6 500 or 2500 Ex. ??? M4-P Chrome 70th Anniv. =3D 2500 $ R6 2500 Ex. R3 =3D Unusual Possible availability 3-6 month R6 =3D Very rare " " once in 2 years In Belgium a M4-P Black is more R2 (slightly unusual 14 days) and a M4-P Chrome is more R8 (I have seen two in 13 years) = The second one is still for sale in Brussels (around 2000$) But I have seen +/- 15 M4-P Chrome 70th Anniv. in 13 years. Each market is different. And collecting Leica is not an exact science. That's the fun of it. Lucien BELGIUM
