I meant the west side of the island Karpatos, sorry. The east side,
with its airprot and hotels, is for the tourist herds. There are
several small villiages in the high mountains (west), which have
been connected by small streets to the rest of the island no
more than 20 years ago. Very special villages ... clouds below
you (in the morning), no plane ways, stairs, stairs, stairs.
Different kind of beaches in the south west, sand, small stones,
big stones & rocks, kilometers without persons, olive trees, small
stone walls arounds the gardens/ fields, funny little salamanders,
turques water - never blue. Houses: white, white, white, blue or
green frames. Million of blossoms after one rain drop ...

Moral, specially in th smaller villages, is very conservative, i.e.
parents select their daughter's husband, divorce forbidden. If a
woman wants to go to university, and parents say no, it's no for
the rest of the woman's life etc.

Try the grilled fish :)
