A short article in the December 1977 issue of Photo Techniques titled "After
Diana: a new era for photographers" mentions "at a midwestern U.S. county
fair a horse bolted, fell in it's traces, and hurt itself. A local
Photographer and his teenage daughter who tried to take pictures of the
efforts of local farmers to help the animal were attaced by several people;
the two were later followed and further harassed. One of their assailants
reportedly shouted 'you guys cause this stuff!' " We are not all Paparazzi.
The visually illiterate must consider the rich heritage of Humanistic
Photojournalism-Eugene Smith, Larry Burroughs, Edward Steichens Family of Man
Exhibition, Mary Ellen Mark, Salgado, Kouldelka, Bresson. And how about all
the compassionate street photographers and essayists who struggle without
recognition and compensation. Photography is an Art.
