Hi Dan,

No because you've eliminated the contact by not cocking the shutter. 

What happens to many folks is, they put the camers away with the shutter
cocked and sitting on the last used shutter speed, therefore making the
shutter/meter release alive if there is any kind of contact within the bag.

When this occurs it just keeps the meter draining the battery continuously.
Imagine someone putting the bag away for two weeks with pressure on the
release. That means it would be like turning on a flashlight for two weeks.

Do that too often and your battery is going to be dead in no time.
