Life-long fascination with photgraphy, astronomy, optics, light and art. Equipment: 100% Olympus OM (light-weight, compact, reliable, relatively quiet, wide choice of lenses and systems). Wandering through a recent Buena Park show, I happened to pick up a Leica M. I operated the controls...focus...shutter...advance...focus...shutter...advance. Unbelieveable! Focus...shutter...advance...so buttery smooth, so sensuous! I couldn't stop. I then looked up to see the camera's owner, who was glaring at me as if I was running my hands over his girlfriend. Returning her...er...IT...to the table, I walked away in a daze. My desire to learn all I can about these marvelous cameras before going further (i.e. writing checks) brought me here---where I have found not only a bountiful source of information, but a refreshing and civilized little oasis in the World Wide Wasteland. Receding quietly away, like my black cat into the evening shadows (and my hairline) I will now resume lurking, only to emerge, from time to time, to ask the occasional bonehead question... - --thp--
