Subject: Leica III bottom plate

I saw an ex++ Leica III (1938, incl Elmar, box & stuff) today. 
What I never saw in a Leica before: She had 3 small (1 mm, each) 
_screws_ in the bottom plate. The screws are visible from outside.
Does anybody know whether this is original?

Alf
