The 135/4.5 Hektor was manufactured from 1933 to 1966 with very
little changes except coating after the war. It was & is a fair lens for
its price & time but with the advent of reflex cameras, the interest in
the 135mm focal length dropped & so did the prices. They are easy
to come by in both LTM & M mnts for about $125 to $225 and can't
compare with the Elmar or Elmarit but have served the needs of many
top photographers for many years. I personally have sold all 7 of the
ones that I offered through the Leica Historical Society Catalog, mainly
due to a fine article by Dick Gilcreast that revived interest in them just
a few months ago, but if you can afford it - go for the Elmar or Elmarit.
