I don't own any of his books and I'm not looking for them. That's what I meant about controversial. I kinda recall that he photographed his own children. When I met him in about 1959, I was just out of college and an editor at Modern Photography. He had been living in Germany and came to our N.Y.C.offices to show his paintings. Far out paintings. I wondered, at the time, why he came to show us paintings? One important fact was..it was dead of winter and cold, and McBride arrived in short pants.
