There is no such thing as Steve Jobs leaving well enough alone. I've known
Steve Jobs since before the Apple was invented. His EGO will surely take
over, as it always has before. Only Steve Jobs knows how to run a business.
Usually running it into the ground. Remember the Lisa? Closed architecture.
Dictated by an iron fisted Steve. Nearly broke Apple. And how many Next
computers are available. I have a very close friend (hardware engineer) who
worked for Steve at Next. He left within two years in total disgust. You're
right! I don't think much of Steve's ability to leave his EGO behind and
let very qualified people who want to make money influence the companies
direction, instead of someone who already has more money than he knows what
to do with, forcing his half baked egotistic dreams on a company, probably
sealing its demise.

This is possibly too pessimistic. I have, however, worked here in Silicon
Valley for 32 years and have been involved with and have watched a lot of
good management and a lot of bad management. While Steve and Woz were poor,
they grew a dynamite company. As soon as it weren't poor any longer,
well... you be the judge.

ps... I'm not interested in continuing this thread. It's not a Leica topic
and it could be argued ad-nauseum. I've simply expressed my opinion on your
post. I HOPE I'M PROVED WRONG. I will not comment further.
