If memory serves, Frank was making his comment within the context of fast moving sports photography. In that arena, IMHO, there has been an improvement in the images since AF came along. Though I don't see it regularly, today's Sports Illustrated photographs are visually more exciting to me than were yesteryears. This, coming from a guy who is nearly as old as Ted. I know that it takes more to excite me visually today than years ago. Kind of like the image overload and the resultant jadedness [sic] expressed in another thread by Patrick, I believe. Don't know how long its going to take we Leicaphiles to admit that AF and AE is here to stay, because it does some jobs better than we can manually. Thankfully, my pedestrian photography is best handled by the Leica systems, but, if I was shooting roundball, auto racing etc. I'd sure have different gear. - -- Roger Beamon Naturalist & Photographer Leica Historical Society Of America mailto:beamon@primenet.com Thought for the day: Book (n): a utensil used to pass time while waiting for the TV repairman.
