Just as was the case with the description of the = 28mm by Mr Eastland, I get the impression that more and more writers = rely on their interpretation of the press info to descibe a lens. The = French word "moul=E9e" which is also used in the sentence yoy refer = to, means of course "moulding" and that may have led the writer to = assume a plastic. In fact the same technique of 'blank moulding" is = used for the 28, 35/2,0 and 35/1.4 ASPHerics. Leica uses a press die, = diamomd polished into the required shape (the reverse of course) to = press the lens elements into shape. Only a few glass types are made = that can be treated like this. The designer is therefore restricted = to these types. Looking at the lens diagrams you will notice that = some lens elements are quite thick: again a new technique by Leica. = Up till now nobody seems to have noticed it. Erwin
