Maybe one very unnoticeable hairline scratch in 1mm length? > David, Most price lists should have a definition on them someplace. Shutterbug publishes a grading guide in every issue. Normally, the glass should be perfect, everything should work, and the grading should only be for cosmetic wear. If there is anything wrong with the item, it should be noted (i.e., "cleaning marks on glass," "self timer not working," etc.). My favorite ones are the "huge mark on front glass; no effect on image quality" notes. (actually, this could be added to Jeff Segawa's list of reseller lies.) One of the most revealing things to look for is a range of grades. If everything is Ex++++, it might be like going to a movie theater and being offered large and extra-large drinks instead of small and large. KEH is well known for grading conservatively. Some other dealers grade everything too high. The temptation is strong, since small differences in grading can mean a 30% or more increase in price. - - Paul
