While one can say that, functionally, the above is true, actually the
lever focuses the RF optics for different subject distances (thus the
infinity mark). This is because the Leica LTM RF magnifies the image (to
increase the accuracy of the short-base RF). It therefore needs focusing
("needs focused" as we say[egregiously] in Pittsburgh), similar to other
magnifying optical devices: binoculars, telescopes, etc. As such, this
need would be so even for someone with 'perfect' vision.
