Subject: Re: Leica list, not gun list

Well, we've had a nice passionate exchange about our love for guns, Leicas,
whatever -- as someone said "it's all the same thing". This person had a
point. If what we really like about our Leicas is the quality of their
construction, machining, etc., then that's fine. Guns, pens, audio, all of
these boys toys are a hell of a lot of fun. I like most of them too.

What's interesting to me, however, about this spirited defense of the gun
thread on a Leica list is that some of the folks that think guns are a valid
topic here seemed to have a major problem with a guy like Oddmund who wants
to lay HIS passion on us too. If you're going to tolerate (if not enjoy) the
gun thread, then you have to tolerate (if not enjoy) the philosophical
threads. I challenge anyone on this list to make a logical and convincing
argument that either guns are more or less acceptable on this list than
Oddmund's stuff.

If you'd rather talk about guns here than philosophy, fine. But I don't buy
anyone telling me that one is ok and the other is not (not that anyone has,
yet).
