Estlands book "Leica M compendium" he explains on p.130-132 that >changing the frame of the M6 with the preselector lever has an influence >on the actual size of the measuring area of the light meter. This means >that I get a smaller measurment area when I change the frame to 135 mm >still using a 35 mm lens. > This is wrong. The metering cell reads a reflective area off of the shutter cutain that is of a fixed size in relation to the film mask. Changing the frame lines via the selector lever simply SHOWS you different frame lines for different focal lengths. From this you can extrapolate what the metered area would be if you changed lenses. The only way to change the angle of measurement of the meter is to change lenses. Hope this helps. Regards, Ben W. Holmes Boulder, CO USA bholmes@frii.com
