I had a most educational conversation with a working pro in my country.

Based on his experience, different clients view the different cameras he
uses differently.

The older and well to do clients have a high respect for the MF Rolleis and
Hasselblads. They will pay well for good pictures taken of them with those
cameras.

The younger lot will, on the other hand, think he is nuts if he used a
Rolleiflex TLR to take their pics. What they want is to see a big SLR
and the bigger the better. So he uses the Mamiya 6x7 which makes their
eyeballs pop out. He thinks this is because the young is more exposed to
the TV media where they see "pros" using big cameras.

For 35mm, Leicas have the best reputation beating Contax, Nikons, etc.
Clients never ask questions when he uses his Leica. In his words, "A leica
around my neck is the best reputation enhancer. It carries its own
credentials."
