Cheapness is why 1) The top plate is no longer engraved 2) stampings are substituted for machined parts 3) a cheap leatherette instead of the classic vulcanite 4) black chrome and mediocre silver chrome instead of the classic black enamel and beautiful silver chrome Of course Leica partially corrected the problem with the M6J, at something like $10,000 per body. What a bargain! Stephen Gandy
