I had a price list I can't seem to find but roughly in American $$:

front module small $4000
                      Large  10,000

focus elements range from 3,600 to 8,000

So a new 280 f/2.8 is about $8,000.  the 800 f.5.6 around $18,000.

One of my studio mates just bought a Nikkor 400 2.8 for $8000 and the 
other photographer bought a Nikkor 600 f.4 AI-S whiz bang for $11,000, 
so maybe these prices not completely (just a little) NUTS.

I need to quit being a photographer and begin being a physician or attorney 
so I can afford to become a photographer!!
