Nicholas,

I have the newer version of the 35mm Summicron and it was my only lens for a
long time. Now, I use my 50mm lens almost all the time, except in Europe
where I cannot step back to take a photograph or in the mountains, for
similar reasons.

My 35mm Summicron is a great lens. However, I have heard that there were
versions of this lens that had flare problems.

IMHO, don't get rid of the 50mm.
