From f2 on both performed nearly equal but wide open the Canon had less light fall of (Canon can obviously take some benefit from their large bayonet I suppose) and much better contrast. But to my mind the comparison is a little unfair. The EF-lense is a much newer design a clunker of a lense and its price is even higher if I remember right.
