I've noticed this flare problem as well, but I didn't realize it didn't
exist on older M cameras. In fact, I thought I had noticed it on a friend's
M3.

Unfortunately, I have very little faith that Leica will do anything to fix
the problem. They almost always tell users to "live with it."
