Subject: Oddmund isn't.

Hi guys.

As this (hitherto) has been one of the most civilised and focussed groups
on the net, I suppose we ought to thank our Parisian friend for
contributing a new word to the English language in time for Christmas:
"provocating".

I think it's a great cross between 'provoking' and 'prevaricating', both of
which he seems to achieve in equal measure. But then 'provocateur' is a
great French word to use as a starting point.

Of course, as an Englishman living in Cork, Ireland, I must be suffering
from a very bad attack of 'ethnocentrism'. Funny, I thought all of us on
this side of the Pond were Europeans now.

We all know that there's only one way to deal with this tendentious
nonsense, and that's to let it wither on the vine. If you're 'provocated'
into replying, the objective is achieved. Hence this is my first and last
post on the subject.

Why don't we see if we can consign the 'Odd' word to the same glorious
oblivion
as the Fogg bag thread of early '96? All it takes is the willpower not to reply.

BTW, I've just acquired a 'virtual darkroom' using Photoshop on a PowerMac
with a reasonably decent ink-jet printer. I'm still on the learning curve,
but the results are pretty near to photographic quality, and the
flexibility is of course tremendous. Anyone else out there in the Leica
community gone the same route? As this is definitely an 'oddity' in being
off-topic, all email to me personally is welcome to save cluttering up the
LUG.

Best wishes for the festive season.

Slan

Alex
