I sold mine..the 3.5-4.5 >model due to very lacklustre image quality. Generally, I shoot Leica and Nikon in the f/4-f/8 range. Minox tends to be used from f/8-f/11 in order not to go beyond the max 1/500th sec shutter speed. For those who are wondering, the Minox is not used on a tripod, but I may do so if I can figure out how the heck to fit a camera this small with a QR plate :-) The AF-Nikkor was used with the rigid factory lens shade and Hoya UV(0). The Summicron has a built-in hood (very handy!) and was used with a Hoya UV(0) filter, which also doubled as the lens cap (it was clean throughout the shooting). No filter or hood was used on the Minox, though I do take care to shield the lens from direct glare using the door of the camera itself, or my hand. Was not aware that a hood was available for this, the original Minox 35, and I didn't see any obvious means of attachment. By the way, the f/3.5-f/4.5, 35-70 Nikon zoom is an entirely different beast from the f/2.8 AF-Nikkor. I've seen the slower optic sell for under $100, brand new. It's compact, lightweight and sorta hard to manually focus, as the focusing action is not especially smooth. The f/2.8 is somewhere over $600, and it's a heck of a lot bigger and heavier. I've needed that max speed on a few occasions, and the lens has performed admirably. Manual focus on this critter is twitch-quick but smooth. - --------------------------------------------------- Jeff Segawa (segawa@netone.com) Boulder, Colorado, USA Specialist in interesting, quality junk.
