Subject: 35mm f/1.4 ASPH

About a year ago I owned the above lens, #3659488, which I purchased new.
After taking some pictures of the "dreaded Christmas tree lights" I found
unacceptable coma in the corners, at least I thought so. I sold the lens
and purchased a 35 f/2.0 summicron silver-chrome which I have been using for
about 85-90% of my shooting.

After getting back from our trip to Va and points east, I found that I
"needed" the f/1.4 lens, as quite a lot of my shots are indoors in darker
locations. I sold the 35/2.0 and purchased the above lens, #3670766,
determined to keep it even if it performed like the first one.

I had taken some shots on the same film (K-64) with the 35/2.0 for the same
store front as last year and also with the new 35/ASPH.

At 2.0 the summicron showed definite coma at the sides and corners - but it
was a beautiful lens and fun to use. The ASPH only weighs about 2 oz more
than the silver-chrome summicron. Results at 1.4 with the ASPH . Virtually
NO COMA!!! It performed as advertised!! Don't know what was wrong with the
first one, but this one is great and it is very sharp.

Hope the posting is not too long.
