I had heard, years ago, that Leitz owned their own glass-works, and so made
their own glass.  Can anyone confirm whether this was true - or just a
rumour - and if true, do they (or at least Leica) still own it?

It seems that the composition of the glass would be quite similar to the
competition if they got their raw glass from the same spot other lens makers do!
